Finally got my 2004 F225s straightened out and the boat runs great. I observed it will run above 6000 RPM- hitting 6200 is no problem. Also noticed that fuel economy and top end is nothing like the Yamaha performance sheet shows for the boat. Checked my props and they are 17 pitch, while the Yamaha test used 19 pitch props. Seems like the over revving and poorer than expected fuel economy might be because I should have 19 pitch props.
Can others tell me what they use for props on the 265 with F225s? Saltwater Series or SWS II? Thanks in advance.

I have the same set-up but it's a 2002. I run Mercury Mirage Plus 15 3/8 x 18's. I think you'll be over-propped with 19's .....

I thought about being over-propped but the Yamaha test with F225s was done with 19 pitch props. That's why I'm interested in what others have found- in the real world, not just in a PR test.

The tests are done with a very light load, no bottom paint and near perfect conditions. I have about 200 hrs on the Mirage 18's inshore and offshore and they run really well on my boat. I wouldn't go bigger for what I do...

I heard back from Grady and Yamaha and they both recommend the 19 pitch props. I did some additional testing and with the 17 pitch props, the engines rev right up to the limiter of 6100 RPM without trouble (180 gallons of fuel, 2 people, 2-3 ft seas). I have ordered 19 pitch props (Yamaha SWS) and will report back on fuel economy and top end after installing them.
