Thinking about purchasing a 2006 GW Advance with a Yam F250 4 stroke. Any advice/feedback on the boat, power, etc. would be greatly appreciated

In Deep: I have the same hull in a walkaround. The F250 matches up well. I get 27 mph at 4,000 rpm and about 3 mpg in calm water. Top end is 42 mph at 6,000 rpm. Gets on plane easily. I have 730 hours on my F250 and it has been perfect.

There are days, usually way offshore, that twin 150s seem like a good idea. Then when I'm fueling up back at the dock I'm happy with my choice.

I really like this hull. Big enough to get me out on most days and small enough that I can easily fish and dock her by myself.

Good luck with your decision!

Rob,

Thanks for the info. It's always good to hear from someone that has owned one. I like the F250 engine. I just didn't want to get into something that was known to be underpowered.

Thanks,

Ken

Had a 2003 with a F225 and it got the job done. The 250 is a much stronger motor. The 225 is a weak 225. I find the Advances I have had with twins just ride better. They just feel better balanced. The bite of two props in rough water feels different too.

Twins 150 25' advance

I will tell you twin 150's are great on that boat I take mine 75 miles offshore weather permittng and I get 2.25 mpg . you cant beat the saftey of twins and overall performance. they are easy to take care of thats my vote.
