My old Lewmar 600 windlass seems to have died. I bought a new Quick Genius 600 windlass to replace it and I have a few questions. First the main wires out of the motor look like a very heavy gauge, manual say 7 awg, but I think it looks bigger like 4 or 5 awg. The manual for my Sailfish says it has 4 ga wire for windlass power. The windlass on the boat was put on after the boat a year or so old the previous owner told me. The wires running to the old windlass does not look like a 4 ga wire though. If the boat did not come with a factory windlass would this wiring as in the manual not exist and I will have to replace everything?
Also of anyone that has a quick genius 600 do you know what the two small wires off of the unit are for? The manual is not very descriptive and hard finding photos online.
