Hi,
I have a question about the setup with a Raymarine SeaTalk newtork and the NMEA 2000 connection to the 2007 F250.
I started connecting the NMEA 2000 plug from the F250 and ran the blue and white cable into my SeaTalk network. I sliced in the two cables and got engine data in my Raymarine display. The issue is that when doing it this way you get about 8 warnings per display everytime you start or restart the displays. Raymarine tech support mentioned that I need the ECI 100 gateway (which acts like a firewall) and I wont have any error messages when starting the displays. So I bought the $300 ECI 100 unit sliced the NMEA 2000 blue and white cable into the Device net port of the ECI 100, added power and ground to, and connected the other end/port of the ECI 100 to the SeaTalk network. When powering on I get a green solid light on the SEALtalk side port of the ECI 100 and a 7 times red blinking light on the device net port side of the ECI 100. (7 times red blinking means by the RM trouble shooting guide that there is not data coming in for longer than 5 secs).
I checked the firmware on the ECI 100 and it is 1.2 which is the newest, also my RM displays have the most recent version on it.
My question is:
Why do I get engine data displayed in the RM units with out the ECI 100 and when I add the ECI 100 between the engine and the seatalk I do not get anything displayed and the light says no data stream. Any advice highly appreciated. Am I missing anything in this setup? Thank you.

I recently connected my Yamaha to a N2K backbone. I simply got the Yamaha cable and went from the engine directly to a tee on the backbone. Works fine.

Did the same as halfhitch, with 2007 F250s, but with Garmin displays. I got several alarms that were generated by the Garmin software such as neutral switch open, etc. I went into the Garmin config alarms menu and disabled the false alarms and it all works great now. For me it was a Yamaha data software versus Garmin software issue. I still get all the data I would ever need and most of the pertinent alarm data as well. I have no gateway of any kind. Yamaha to NMEA 2000 network with blue and white and a black ground. If you hook up red it provides two legs of power which isn't needed or desired. Good luck!

Thank you for the great feedback. I will most likely go back to my original set up then and disable the alarms in the display as well. Thanks again.

Be sure to heed Bills' recommendation to not put 12volt into the backbone from any source other than the dedicated power tee.
