Hi All -

First post, recently bought an 05 Marlin 300 and looking to upgrade electronics. I'm set on the GPSMAP 8616 as the first piece and will upgrade the transducer/radar shortly after.

My question is, can I use my current Airmar B60-200-RAY transducer with the Garmin chartplotter as plug and play? My current setup is Raymarine E120 w/ Seatalk console mounted in the dash.

Also, not sure of the model of the radar but any chance of using a Raymarine radar w/ the Garmin chartplotter in the interim? Chance of adapting the cable?

Appreciate any help.

B60 is a traditional (non-CHIRP) 600w 50/200 kHz thru hull. The 8616 can run that but you will probably need an 8-pin garmin adapter. (cut ray plug off and use adapter box)
The 8616 can also run a 12 pin CHIRP/Sidevu transducer. A good choice for that would be the GT51M.
You can have both (8pin and 12 pin) transducers but only run one at a time.

You will need a Garmin radar.

Almost certainly you will be able to use your B60, but you will need a Garmin adaptor cable. If you have the mix and match transducer cable, it will just be a matter of replacing the short connection to the Garmin head unit. If you don't have a mix and match cable, you can do the job by spicing the wires.
