Re-Attaching Rubber(?) Lining of Cabin Window on Adventure

Hi all,

As in the attached picture, the rubber(?) lining on the outside of my cabin window has popped off on one corner. Same story on the other window. How to stretch and re-attach?

It appears that where the two strips comes together, they've started to pull apart and separate. So, I'm scared of pulling too hard in that direction (which is the direction I need to pull).

Any recommendations on re-sealing the two strips together permanently? Any tips on stretching the material to make it fit back into the groove? Would a hair dryer or heat gun allow the material to stretch?

Yes, hair dryer/heat gun will help. I'm not sure where you're located, but if it's not somewhere warm and sunny right now, I'd wait till it is. Otherwise, you'd be trying to warm up the whole entire rubber piece.

As far as gluing it... I don't know, I've never tried. Maybe super glue. BoatLife makes a product called LifeCalk that could be used to help keep it in place (if needed). It's an adhesive sealant that you can get in black. I used it to fill in an area where the rubber has shrunk (and too lazy to get new stuff) and unless you're right up close with it, you can't tell.

Thanks Dennis! I'm on the Bay, near Easton MD. So no, it's not too warm right now. I'll wait until it's warmer, and will try the hair dryer.

When it gets nicer out, make sure the sun is beating down on that area for the day and then try stretching it back in. That LifeCalk can be used UNDER the rubber to help keep it in place for the future. But, at some point, that rubber will have shrunk too much that nothing will work... short of gluing the whole darn thing in place.

low heat and even heat over a large part of the rubber is the way i did mine when it popped out.On the sharp corner make sure the rubber is hooked under the point. A heat gun might be to hot, on high use a lower setting.
