Hello, I am new to this forum and also a new Grady White owner. i purchased a 1993 209 escape early this year. I have restored the boat completely and in the final stages of electrical. The dashboard on the console has a red light that does not turn off. What does this light indicate? Seems to be an emergency light. Thanks for your help.

I say that is not a factory-installed indicator, so this is just a guess: previous owner may have wanted a visual indicator of the main battery switch being on. Sometimes indicator lamps are wired to a bilge pump, so the helmsman can see if/how ofen the pumps are cycling, but that's probably not your setup, as you didn't mention anything about something running.

You may need to trace the wiring back, to see where it is connected. That's all I got at them moment.

I'd go along with CB, I'm betting a bilge alarm...

But, since nothing is running, it's getting it's power from somewhere...

Wasn't sure if it was from factory or not. Will trace back and see what it tells me. I will post some photos when all is done. Thanks.

i'm thinking a bilge alarm would have some kind of noise alarm on it, bet it's a power on light.

If you shut your battery switch(s), does the light go off? If it does, 90% is indicator to not forget to shut down batteries, if it does not, then it HAS to do with bilge pump(s).
