I have a 2017 330 Express. Trying to remove my Gen 1 Trust Joystick as I suspect it has failed. Any advice how to remove it? I assume I need access from behind?

I can’t reach it from the top. Maybe by removing the circuit breaker panel? Any ideas? Thank you!IMG_7219.jpegff95f376-2f54-4eaf-9929-56f9d1010387.jpeg

You are going to have to get behind that thruster at some point. Maybe take the Yamaha computer out. Any access from in the cabin?

Remove the fusion control, Yamaha screen, or the whole tub under the pod. You can’t get to that from the cabin even if you remove the breaker panel. I have an older 330 with the side power joystick and there are covers in the face that came off to expose screws… that lewmar design stinks if there’s no way to remove it other than getting behind it.

Easiest path is to remove the entire electronics pod. Disconnect the ram, then fold up AND SECURE the electronics box. Undo all the screws at the perimeter, break the cauling seal, and lift out. That will give you good access to the underside. You may also need to open up the electric panel in the cabin as well, to access lower wiring connections.

Had mine all open last year to replace MFD's, and redo the drain for the cupholder.

Don't think this is at all a design flaw on Lewmar's part. Even if the actuator was able to come loose with screws from the front, there is still the matter of all the wiring connections behind the dash.

Looks like 4 screws in the back hold it in. You could probably do it thru the Fusion or Yamaha computer hole if you can get them out. Also that joystick looks like it has been discontinued. Possibly find new old stock somewhere. There are new models too that should fit.

On my 2007 330 I can get to that area by dropping the electrical panel in the cabin and looking/reaching up and to the right.

I was able to get to it by removing the yamaha computer and take it out like that. Looks like the problem is the truster joystick. Any idea who might still have some old stock GEN 1 controlers?

I looked around-no stock. Looks like Lewmar replace the GEN1 with a new joystick and converter module kit. I would call Lewmar USA 203-458-6200.
