Replacing a Marlin Vent Window

Are there any suggestions on how to find a replacement starboard vent window for a 2012 Marlin ? Thanks !

Just do a search on GG for "vent window". It's not as straightforward as ordering one!

The easiest way is to use the opposite window as a template and go to a local glass shop. Most shops send the template to a supplier who does tempered glass. Mine too, think about a week, not cheap think it was $125. Some on this site have opted for plexi glass and cut it themselves from some plexi purchased at lowes.

Also try your local Grady dealer too. Its a long shot, but I did get lucky with a window on my 265 once, as they had the window in stock. I have also used marine glass specialties for a vent window too.

Did you have any luck? I am looking for the port side for my Marlin 300. I contacted marine glass specialty today and they said they have been looking for the hinge material for months and can't find any. They referred me to a guy named Roy in Miami and I text him a picture but haven't heard anything back.

I ended up having small Isinglass enclosures made. I do have a port side vent window and associated hardware.

Check the glass for the manufacturer - might be Taylor. Maybe they or GW can be of technical assistance.

There is nothing easy about finding a replacement vent window. If you can find someone with one it's your best bet. Marine Glass Specialties in FL bought all the Water Bonnet inventory. They have some materials but no glass. If you have the aluminum hinge you can substitute acrylic or polycarbonate but they will deteriorate after a few years. Cheap easy replacement though. School bus glass (factory) is not tempered. GW drilled a hole near the edge - most glass shops don't want to do that that close to the edge. Tempered - which I did - has to be sent out. It's a little expensive to do one piece - get a few made for spares. It's much tougher - better than factory!

Side window replacement

Gentlemen- 1989 252 Sailfish. Anyone have any idea of the trim required to replace this glass? PO had apparently just stuck a piece in there with some type of sealant - didn't hold up to freeway speed! Just a fixed piece is fine.... Thanks.

Are they Moonlight brand windows? It should say something on the window itself, unless it's been worn off over the years. Seems like a lot of Grady White's used them... possibly a 91 or 92 series? I'm guessing by a vent window that it'll be a 91 series.

When I had my vent made (tempered) at a glass shop they made the hole in the glass as Grady did originally, but they also had the hole open to the edge of the glass maybe 1/4 inch straight line. They said that made the glass stronger less likely to have a breaking point around the hole .
