replacing aluminum trim piece on non skid deck

has anyone replaced the aluminum trim piece that runs between the non skid deck and the walkaround step next to the cuddy cabin on a 1987 22 seafarer ? It is about a 1/2 "wide and is pop riveted into the fiberglass. Is it tucked under the deck or can you pull it out and replace it?Mine is really old looking and I want to replace

I dont' think it's u-channel so I should come out. Depending on how tight the fit is, it might require a little coaxing. Just be careful that you don't twist it in such a fashion that it causes the gelcoat and/or glass to crack.

I never did like those pieces. I think a small strip of starboard or duratrim would have looked much better.
