The same manufacturer but a different color. I used a matte navy color.
Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to seeing how the switch panel comes out. Everything about mine works fine, but I would just like to freshen things up.

I just started following this thread but not seen a direct answer to my situation. Has anyone found a replacement new style lighted rocker switch that fits into the hole of the oval switch that was used by GW around 2000? Here is a picture of my 12 hole panel, its on a 2000 226. Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure if I just don't understand your question, but the answer is right there in the first few posts. Alter the hole to fit a new style switch.

Just put the switch panel back in. Happy with the results for such a cheap refresh, just waiting on my Speedo gauge to get back from gaugesaver.28A135B7-E1AA-4875-84CF-84CC348E35E9.jpegB7883C06-42F3-4227-872F-F14BE30E8538.jpeg

LIG, that really looks great. That is exactly the way I hope mine will turn out. Are those Blue Sea labels that you used?

Yes they are the blue sea labels. They didn’t have exact verbiage I was looking for but close enough.

What material is the black backer board made of and where can I get some? Love the look and work!

It’s the factory “duratrim” material from 1998 that had the light colored wood grain look to it. I think it’s some sort of composite board. Not easy to cut for my GPS location but I made it work. The material is matte navy vinyl wrap I bought off eBay for $10 bucks.

I finally finished installing the new wire panel, cutouts, and electronics on my 98 Islander. New wire marine was responsive and the design process took a few weeks to tweak and finalize.

I added an nmea network to include the evinrudes and kept the old evinrude rpm gauges. Here are some pics!

I think the best play is to have a new panel made. this way you can lay it out the way you want, ensure proper labeling and get it all set up before you do the swapout. I'd make a set of short jumper cables with waterproof butt connectors and connect this way if the wiring in the boat is good rather than rewire the entire thing. It gives you all the time you need to get everything the way you want and then all that is needed is to install butt connectors on the boat side, then plugin and install.

I'd do a new panel and get it done right. As stated, the wiring likely needs to be cleaned up as well. If it was me, I'd outsource the panel and do the wiring myself.

Substitutions are still uncontrollably accessible, as the segment is a GM unit. On the off chance that you can't discover it under a GW, search for a GM full size truck the exact year, ot Google GM blinker switch substitution.

One activity BEFORE you haul the old switch out is attach a string to the wires where they leave the segment. That way when you haul the old switch out, you will have a string to get the new wires back through. This is on YouTube moreover. Once more, look for GM items.

Luckily I have the Carling switches, guess Grady changed suppliers in later years. Liking the blue switch covers that New Wire Marine has, might pick some up next time I'm in Charleston and change mine out.
Did you get your 250 yamaha? I just bought a 2003 228 with a 2017 250. Love it. Previous 15 years with 1990 over nighter w/225 so when I was shopping most 228s had a 225 and I was a bit concerned about response.... The 228/250 seems perfect fit, cruse/gas consumption and power. And I seem to burn less fuel than the old 20' Grady.

Why not just change the rockers and keep the switches? Just pop off the old and put in new. New rockers are available. It significantly dresses up the dash.
I've just picked up a 2006 Tournament 225. Looking to replace the covers on the switches. Do new Carlin covers fit the original switches?
