2005 Gulfstream 232 - So I just found the original dome light (got really lucky). Grady had one left of the 69000300. The one on the Grady I just bought is damaged or broken.

Can the original dome light i just bought be switched to LED bulbs? Before I go opening it up and prob break one of those tabs. I'd like to switch the white and red lights to LED if possible.

I just did this to mine. Replaced the digikey switches and added led bulbs from west marine. I used blue and a white bulbs. Works great and switches the dome lights and spreaders, which are also led.

Was it necessary to change out the switches? Can this change be made by a simple bulb swap, or is there more that needs to be done to make this Dome Light functional with LED bulbs?

Do you have any idea which bulbs you used? Do you have any company information or model #s? From my research, the current incandescent bulbs are #912 T5, which are rather rare to find. The T10 or T3.25 is much more available than the T5. I also notice online that alot of bulbs state that a certain bulb will fit a T5 or T10 connection.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You don’t need to swap out the switches if they still click well. Mine were 20 years old. For the bulbs just take the number from the label inside the fixture and look at west marine. They have compatibility tables. It’s very easy. The base of the bulbs are identical if they are incandescent or led, the tops are what is different.look like your bulbs are #912. Look at west marine and they have bulbs that match that number.

see below from west marine website. Btw, you got lucky finding such a new fixture. They are excellent designs.

The WEST MARINE Wedge Base T10-194 LED Bulb has been designed as a replacement and upgrade for standard halogen, Xenon and incandescent filament bulbs, offering dramatically lower power consumption and heat generation, while having much greater lifetime and shock resistance. For even greater light output and quality as well as higher efficiency (more light per watt) please look to our Premium series bulbs.
This bulb replaces and has similar brightness to 2 and 3 watt traditional wedge bulbs using the small/short globe. Cross reference #'s T8, T12,T15, 194, 175, 168, #555, 2886X, 194R, 161B, 3652, 193, 658, 2827, 194NA, 161, 558, 168NA, 2825, 194G, 160, 168A, 192, 2821, 194B, 158, W5WB, 579, 168, 2825ST, 168ST, 3652LL, 579LL, 2825LL, 168NALL, 2825L, 2821LL, 168LL, 194ST, 161LL, 194NALL, 2827LL, 158LL, 194LL, 906NA, 917, 906, 916NA, 904NA, 922, 916, 904, 921, 912, 920, 921K, 916LL, 921LL, 912LL, 920LL, 917LL, 906LL, 916NALL, 904LL, 921ST. 11-14VDC input range. 65 max lumens, radiates in all directions.

I know, i got very lucky, thanks. The 912 were difficult to find. I'm going with 194 which say they compatabile. Going to order these.

White: 270 lumens @ 3 watts
Red: 50 lumens @ 1 watt

Pretty sure these should work. Thanks again

The guy didn't really want to sell it to me. He had found three of them by accident, but knew how valueable they were. This was the last of the 3. At $45, can't beat it.

At the time, I may have been going with a lumitec product, I didn't care. I was grabbing this dome light regardless. Someone on here would have loved it I'm sure.

40-4744-00 and the Dome light Judco # 40-3657-00

You will find the switches on DigiKey. Log in and search the part number I provided in the previous post.
