Finally got all the bottom paint off. Best i found was a pull scraper to get the layers knocked down then a 60 grit da sander.. Started fairing some of the previous owners oops! Hopefully i can get some glass laid up tomorrow. But the weather is looking a like too cold (no heat in the shop)

A labor of love. Good on you now you have bigger biceps and pecs.
I paid someone to remove mine, maybe no use to you now but at the end he used this to make sure he removed all down to the gelcoat.
Best, Lee

I can’t understand how someone would do this, versus having the bottom of the boat wet blasted. What is your time and health worth ?

taking advice from the internet ? Are you insane ?

First there isnt a soda blaster within 100 miles of me.... second the closest one I could find was quoted 150 per ft to blast. ($3600) ...... third I used every protective measure (probably 300$ spent on tyvek and respirators).
4th... I know its done right!!!! 5th, its still the tail end of winter, if I wasn't working on the boat I would be sitting int the couch watching tv.

But thanks for you non helpful input...

Did my share of that in the '70's and '80's way before all the regulations. I can tell you it will make you quit smoking. Ranks right up there with grinding fiberglass. Hang in there. While all that is beyond me now, there is the satisfaction of a job well done.

Started glassing some previous repairs and filling the previous clam shell thru hull hole. Also filled the holes drilled in the transom with super slow cure epoxy..... the wood finally dried after about a month. Few additional test holes to make sure it was dry. Fairing the port side gouges.

Vc performance epoxy showed up at west marine today. (thank you Glen Burnie WM, ordered and received in 2 days after being told 7-10 business day to arrive) Picking up after work today. Hopefully I'll have all the glass and fairing done by Friday and be ready for paint this weekend.

Do not order anything from Iboats.com.... the absolute worst customer service ever. Ordered paint, received email that stated would be shipped from Florida warehouse the next day and I would receive shipping info when it shipped. ,, waiting a week, no shipping information. They were out of stock and never bothered to tell me. They were just going to let it sit on backorder until product arrived in a few months........ Had to join their forum to track down someone to help. Emails to customer service went days without being answered.
