I manage a 232 Gulfstream, 2002 for a friend who lives in England. One of the 2002, 150 Ocean Runners has blown up. The owner has it in his mind to remove the bad engine and move the good 2002 engine to the center position. I tried to tell him it is a waste of money and time and the boat will not run on a single 150. He wwould have to remove the old engine mounts, buy new one for single engine. Anybody have anything I can send him to help convince him this will not make him happy with boat performance.
The boat is great and well taken care of, the owner is only in the US for about six weeks out of the year, son uses it about the same amount of time, also live in England.
Thanks for any info.

I don't have any real facts for you, but I can guarantee the boat will perform very poorly with half the power trying to push that boat. I would look for another used motor. If he ever tried to sell the boat in the future I think he would have a hard time with that modification.

i had an '02 gulfstream with twin f200's. i couldn't even imagine how the performance would be with a single 150. i could, however, say that i would not want to be trying to execute close-quarter maneuvering in adverse conditions.

i would agree in finding a cheap 150 to hold off a full repowering (a bit) or just bite the bullet and put some new iron on it. good luck, ron

Thanks for the help, I never thought it would work but I wanted some more opinions before I wrote back to the owner. I am sending him info on two new 150 Evinrude e techs soince he gets a bunch of stuff for nothing until the end of the month.

Wow. Dude I have a 232 Gulfstream with a pair of F150s and I will tell you she can not even plane on one engine. If he wants one go with a used 350 Yamaha. :)
