Hi Y'all:
I am going to hang the 4.2 liter F250 on my stern in March. My 2008 F250 is in excellent shape and I am getting a decent offer in trade in for the motor. Mid Carolina Marine is doing the work in Columbia.

My F250 is in impeccable condition having spent 1/2 to 2/3 of her life in freshwater. Last year I replaced the main timing belt. Compression is solid on all 6 cylinders and VST filters replaced two seasons ago this year.

So, if anybody is in the market for a F 250 3.3 with around 900 hours let me know. MidCarolina is offering $5k. However, if you want the motor then drop me a line with an offer.

Congrats on the repower. As much as you use the boat, it will be like it's brand new all over again.

Did you go with the electronic digital 4.2 F250? I am in the process of repowering my Sailfish with twin 250 and I decided to keep my current controls and gauges and do the 4.2 f250 with mechanical shifter.

I am going digital! A few folks said it is the bomb. It is adding some costs for sure and if I had twins like you do Legend , I might stay mechanical because that's adding $6k to the purchase price.

Parthery, thanks. I have been going back and forth on getting a bigger ride but I am going with new power. I trailer to Florida a lot plus use it alot here on the lakes and the 22 foot platform really is a good compromise. Maybe the Journey is the most ideal when you get down to it for what we do. Two feet more in the ocean is always welcome and it is still small enough to be a good lake boat.

SmokyMountain,

I repowered my 246G Explorer about a year ago and had the same needs as you do. I had a 2003 225 4 stroke and wanted something new (Exhaust manifold concerns) and with more power. Looked at the 250 3.3 litre and power wise there wasn't much difference. 250 (or 300) 4.2 litre had the power but the digital controls added a bunch of money.

Luckily, my sales guy was looking out for me. 2016 Yamaha 250 V Max SHO. 4.2 liter, 25" shaft and I was able to use all of my mechanical controls. Under $20K for the motor, installation and rebuild of my hydraulic steering. Boat has never run better. Picked up almost 10 MPH in speed and fuel economy actually improved as I can run lower RPM to achieve the same speeds. Only down side fuel wise is WOT it does get a bit thirsty but that's on me!!

Overall, very happy with the purchase/results. PM me if you have any questions.

Chris
