Not to hijack, but I guess I will... Does anyone have them on a Marlin? I've heard nothing but good things about them.

There was a question about weight and scuppers...I see no difference. Pictures below with both engines. Picture with new engines with a full tank of fuel. Picture with Old engines is when we had our sea trial. View attachment 16515View attachment 16516
Boat is pulled and my 300’s are in the way! Can not wait for next season already

I had new 300 zukes on my 330 and she was a whole different boat than with the F225's. I can only imagine that on a 282, you'd be in Beast Mode!
Hey Bayhouse, was wondering if you had 3 or 4 blade props on there? I have the 300's on a 330 w/ 3 blades. I'd like to put 4 blades on but can't find what's been working. Thanks

Who did you choose to do the repower? I saw Danny's Marine mentioned earlier in the posts. I had them repower my 228 a couple years back to a Suzuki 250ap and was very happy with their work and communication. The Suzuki has been great. You can service yourself if you choose, which I've done or take it to your favorite mechanic. I performed the 20 hour service myself, but have since taken it to JF Marine Services who have been great and I would highly recommend. I figure that eventually I'll need a mechanic so I'd like to build a rapport with one and save some time.

I did a single 250 on my Voyager and it does me just fine. Are you sold on the twins ? The single might do everything you need. Also check your Coast Guard Plate for the HP Rating mine says good up to 350 HP
Just an observation. USCG only "certifies" boat's capacity plates for boats less than 20' in length. NMMA has their label on plates for larger boats and is not required by federal law and not USCG certified. Those are developed in conjunction with the manufacturer. Exceeding the capacity listed is not likely to get you a citation from a CG boarding officer during a routine boarding unless you bring attention to yourself and the CG officer is having a bad day! Based on my experience (an old as dirt USCG Boarding Officer), they could get you for reckless and negligent operation if there were contributing factors. Now state regs. and boardings can be a different story.

I am going with Sherer’s marine in Barnegat NJ, job not done yet but Bobby and Adam are great, very happy so far, they even put my old (2006 250s) on my buddy’s Marlin

Looks good. I just did a pair of Yamaha 150s on my islander. I have had Suzuki’s and they were really good, I only went with yamahas because if got left overs. One thing I have learned on any repower is that I always mount the engines too low the first time around. I can’t tell from the photo but I know that gradys run so much better with the lower unit at the right height. Have fun with the steering! It can get complicated and Seastar has different setups for different engines and different years. I was able to re use my 1999 ram with all new seals but all the hardware and tie bar kit was new. And I even cut the first rod short because I thought I had 26” center to center but really had 28”!

yep I already see a problem

they have the steering mounted under the tiller. It probably needs to be over the tiller to allow the motors to come out of the water
Where it is, it will probably hit the transom as it rotates down, before the motor comes out.
You might want to mention that to them asap to clarify....
Yes, maybe there is more clearance on your hull and with 300s but those are an inch lower than they need to be
That looks like a seastar hc5345-3. There is a hc5358-3 that flips the pivot plate so it can be mounted under the tiller

I went just thru this with my zuke 200s on my 265 and my head exploded until I fixed it.
You don't want your new motors touching water when they are up.
read this 265 Express/Suzuki DF200APXW2 ...page 3 has a lot of info

HC5345-3 should mount over the tiller like this...

Skunk boat has some good information there. I went through this exact thing. Sea star has specific diagrams. See the image below. It has a figure 24 b that show the ram plate above the tiller. This was specifically for my engine year and HP. Check to see what is for Suzuki. B5EEA04F-F75C-4116-8CEC-D785F03E23BA.jpeg

Love my 250s ...I switched from F225s and went from a 19 to 23 pitch prop....zero issues...make sure they mount on the right hole..the gearing on these motors are ideal for Gradys in general.

I'm zooming in on your picture. Looks like you are switching to a Tournament series HC6845-3?
Not a bad idea with twin 300s and only a single cylinder.

Same thing applies though...

I have owned a total of 5 DF300's on different boats and all have been flawless. Never a warranty claim. The DF300's on a 300 Marlin (2004) turn 16 X 18.5 Suzuki props but actually ran better (less ventilation and slightly better MPG) with Eco Enertia 16X18's. Right about 46MPH at WOT and cruise at 4200-4400 30 MPH at 1.4MPG.
Now my Marlin has Suzuki DF300B's (contra rotating props) and the boat is a beast with them. Amazing grip, better MPG, planes at a lower speed, better around the dock. The B's are a little heavier but the boat does not seem to notice it at all.

Appreciate all the comments, I will call them tomorrow to confirm. Skunk, Yes it is the tournament series single cylinder. Love this forum :). This 282 will be a racing tank with the twin 300s, I am adding simrad auto pilot, underwater lights, and weather module for my simrad’s. So close to the water I can taste it. That pic was sent to me by the electronics guy, I have not actually seen them yet. Will send more pics as I soon as I can

I am going to start with the 16 X 18.5 in pitch based on others that run the same motors on the 282 , keep the ideas and recommendations coming

Regarding props, I agree with the enertias. Incredible bite. Also I have been impressed with power tech which I am currently running.

My Yamaha 250s could not come fully tilted out of the water due to going up right to the rod holder and fish box, how will the position of the steering change that?
