Hi
We have a Freedom 255 with hardtop and Y300 4.2 L motor. We just completed out 5th season this past summer boating out of Erieau Ontario Canada. We have one of the first 255's and 300 motors as you can tell from the 5 seasons. Love this motor, just over 400 hours, not a single problem (touch wood). Also we can only get 87 octane gas in our marina so that's what she uses rather than the 89 octane recommended....wish we could find it but no luck locally. Performance numbers are around what Grady publishes but top speed is only in the 41 -44 MPH on good water but we are not concerned with speed so much as we typically cruise on good water in the 30-36 range. If you are thinking of going to this motor I would not hesitate, she is all that is advertised.

I'll second that review. My F300 is 4 years old with 600 hours and not a hiccup. It is a bit louder then the F250 it replaced, but has quite a bit more mid-range power. Advertised dry weight of my hull is 4,150 lbs and the F300 pushes it along very well.
