Just thought you guys may want to see my 1982 24' Grady that I bought for peanuts and restored with a new factory GM 350 engine. Been in the water for about a month now and runs and operates like a top! The hull is solid and all the wood is in great shape.

I might add that I installed a new Holly 650 cfm marine carb on it, installed a Mallory electronic ignition system, a new 1 wire 90 amp alternator, and a new power steering pump. I have to tell you the Holly carb out of the box was a breeze to install and when I put a vacuum gauge on the carb to set the idle mixtures it was almost dead on. In case you have an older GW and want to swap carbs here is the link to where I got it. http://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/0-80552/10002/-1

Great job Capt Blood. I had to go back and look at the pictures of my restoration completed 4 years ago on my 1983 24' Weekender. I also repowered and had to redo the complete transon because of the huge hole left by the original OMC verus the hour glass figure of the mercruiser. I also redesigned the soft-top to enclosed behind the fish boxes versus the seats. This made it nice in bad weather and roomy.
Memories are good.

Thanks Joe.. Truth be known I have had a ton of fun bringing it back to primo shape. I am about 90% there. Don't know that I will ever be done though if you know what I mean?

Looks good Capt.

Is that freshwater your set up for, Michigan/Great Lakes? If so, educate me on the need for bottom paint. Did'nt think it was needed in freshwater. Obviuosly not the case? Is this a Great Lakes issue?

You are right about fresh water use. But the boat had bottom paint on it when I bought it. Plus if I want to screw off during the winter somewhere on the Gulf it will be ready to go. I will just have to flush the engine out really good after use.
