I removed the pulpit from the Islander and am ready to reinstall. What adheasive sealant would be preferrable? The boat repair guy said use silicone caulk but I was thinking 4200. I think thats what was used originally because the bond was very strong. I had to use a jack to remove it.

Don't use silicone. 4200UV or 4000UV (whichever) is the way to go. Get the one with the UV protection or it'll turn yellow.

Personally, I would use either 4200 or 5200 around any hardware that passes though a wood core (after drilling the holes oversize, filling w/ epoxy and then redrilling) and 4000UV to bed the pulpit and on the visible areas that get sealant.

Thank You, The pulpit installation went great. It seems that 3M 4000 is the UV stabilized adhesive. I should be good for another 10 years on that job.
