I have a 275 Freedom. The former owner liked cup holders instead of rod holders, especially forward of the helm. I am looking for a rod holder which can be inserted into the cup holder.
Many years ago there was a product called Easy Rodder which would work. However, it appears that company is no longer in business.

Looking for the easy solution and not removing the cup holders. If it even exists anymore.

There are several manufacturers....

I think he is not looking to replace the cup holder but rather find a rod holder that would fit into a cup holder. I would think that a cup holder is much more shallow than a rod holder so I am not sure how an adapter might work.

You could of course get rod holders with the appropriately sized mounting that would attach to the forward supports of the hard top. Leave the cup holders for the beers.

You are absolutely correct Seasick, and that is a solution I had not considered but I do like!! Especially since it keeps the beers in place.

Thank you

Isn't it fun when your main boat issue is related to beer holders?
Enjoy your boat.

Not in my book amf282. Often times I have tunnel vision and only see one way.
I appreciate any and all comments. Could very well lead me to something I had not thought of.

Interesting product. It doesn't bolt to the gunnel though, it it held by a big nut on the underside. That implies that you need access to the underside of the gunnel and in the case of the original question, requires removal of the old cup holder and I have concerns that the hole size might be different and/or the original bolt holes may not be covered by the flange of the new cup/rod holder.

You also need a special tool to install it but you can borrow that from the company

I have not tries them, but we decided to put two more rod holders on the gunwales. Decided cup holders should be cup holders and rod holders are rod holders. We now have four up each side of our 282, three vertical up the top, and five across the top. oh...and one on the transom. :)

That rod/beer holder looks cool. Anybody know if it fits the standard size Grady cup holder?

I replaced the plastic cupholders in the tailgate with SS rodholder/cupholders...cheap ones from eBay. They fit the hole perfectly. They work good as a rodholder but a can does rattle around little.

In the pic it is at the edge of the tailgate. Also, in the gunnel there is a Gemlux heavy duty swivel rodholder with the big nut on the bottom and no screws in the flange. That is a solid rodholder for sure. You do need access to get that nut on. I did not need the special wrench because the gunnel is wide open.

With any rodholder or cupholder you need to consider if it needs to have a drain out to the deck. You don't want them draining to voids.

I put 2 Mate series cup/rod holders on the stern, and use rod leashes for the straight back rods. I had to cut larger holes
