Rod Rack Removal

Does anyone know how to remove this teak rack?

I want to replace it with a new starboard one.

I'm not positive but would have to assume if there isn't any exterior mounting hardware that it's probably attached with screws/hardware from the inside somehow, maybe accessed from underneath where the seats are?

Can you see or feel for screws from the backside? That would be the most likely way. Is that a live well?

It’s a live well and there are 2 hoses attached to the liner. I could remove the two hoses but it’s tough getting you hand back there.

Looks like an older 228 Seafarer, and yes as stated above... I'd try to put your hand with a flashlight and/or mirror behind there to see if you can see any mounting hardware for the rod rack.

That's a very old boat so I will be guessing . On later models with the starboard you need to take out the livewell. When the livewell is out you will see the fixing screws .

Why does a company that overall makes such a great product do things like mount something that will wear out but be nearly impossible to remove!

After you remove the live well, you will see the screws that hold it on. I just refinished mine. The live well may be a bit difficult to get out due to the insulation falling off. I taped it up with duct tape before putting it back in.

Livewell has to come out. Same setup as my Explorer. 8 mounting screws thru the backside.

I think that if you have a GW, with a transom live well, you get used to removing it for routine chores, live well pump, bilge pump, through hull maintenance, etc..
If your insulation is brittle, or coming off, you might try spraying with something like Flex Seal.

Maybe its just me, but with the boat all gussied up that teak will pop. Just my opinion
