We've got a 2007 228 with an old Raymarine A65 gps/sounder combo. That unit has been great for us, and we had the dealer install it when the boat was purchased. I recently won a new Raymarine Dragonfly Pro 7 at a CCA party and would like to put it to use in addition to the old unit. The Dragonfly has CHIRP and will also store around 3000 waypoints vs 999 on the old A65. The new unit is very simple to install, just plug and play. I've got no issues installing the new transducer or the unit itself. Where i need some advice is on running the wire from the transducer up to my electronics box at the helm. Did Grady pre-install any chases I could use, or am I on my own here?

Not sure on an 07, but my older 88' seafarer and offshore have glassed in tubes running up on the starboard side of the boat that all the rigging goes through. Very simple to run a snake through it and pull a wire.

Your 07 has 2 PVC tubes installed in it. A plumbers snake is necessary to get through the pipe. I've had some go easy and some be a bear. Just depends on how much other stuff is already in there.

I've replaced transducers several time on my 226 and it is actually very easy.
Tie a piece of 60 lb monofilament line to the plug end of your transducer wire and pull it through when you remove the old transducer. Then tie the line to the plug end of the new transducer wire and pull it back through the pipe. I've had to pull the wire back and forth a couple of times when it got hung up, but it goes through pretty easily. I only had to use a snake for the first installation.

And whatever you use to pull the wire through, add another section and leave it there! I have a length of small line that runs from the switch panel to the transom in case I need to pull anymore wires.
