Sailfish 282 Electronics replacement

I have searched through past post and can't really find what I am looking for.

I want to replace the electronics on my new to me Sailfish, wanting to go with the new Raymarine C95 OR THE C125, THE UNITS MEASURE 14X10X7 AND 17X11X7, was wondering if anyone has pictures of how they have installed electonics in the factory electronics box, the opening measurement is only about 7.5 inches tall, just looking for some ideas.Pictures would be great.

Given your opening is about 7.5 inches tall,"about" becomes the operative word. If it were me, I'd download the flush mount installation template (or make your own) and see if you can make it happen. Measure twice, and cut once. Here's yours (right?) and mine, just to give you an idea.

If I am looking at this correct your screen is flush mounted where my switch panel is located? I don't mind that idea but wonder how the screen is to read when underway , seems it would be maybe to flat ?

Viewing the screen underway is not a problem, although a greater angle would no doubt be better. Having lived with it the way it is, I decided against fabricating a modification to the existing space, into which my C120W slipped perfectly. Of course, our console layouts are entirely different, but we do have in common a built-in "radio box" of similar proportions. How to take advantage of your available real estate depends, in part, upon which gauges you may be willing to eliminate. In my case, I got rid of my Yamaha alternator (2), engine hours (2), water pressure (2), oil pressure (2) and fuel (1) gauges. I have all but the water pressure information displayed on my screen.

By the date of your post, I might be a little late,
I have a 95 272 with a similar space, I took off the black door & hinges, cut out inside restrictions and put in a raymarine c90W, put hinges & black door back on and I love it.... What did you end up doing? If nothing & you are interested in what mine looks like just let me know & I will send pic along

I bought the boat last Sept. but I am wanting to upgrade the electronics this year, your not to late so if you dont mind post up your pics.

We purchased a 2003 282 last Nov that is currently in storage. The previous owner had installed a RM C80 in the glove box (same as yours). I plan to replace with twin Simrad NSS8s or one NSS8 (currently own) and a HDS-8 Gen (less expensive but compatible solution for GPS and radar display, Sirrius is also 1/6 the cost of the Simrad unit). I'm going to make a starboard panel and install in the same manner that Capt Bill did here... http://www.greatgrady.com/forum/viewtop ... =3&t=11753.

Flush mounted 12" displays will likely require modification of the existing opening.

Thanks for the replies guys, and the link , some great ideas. I am leaning towards moving the gauges I decide to keep up to a panel in the current electronics box and installing a 12" screen in the vacated area.

Zero regrets, in facts only would have regrets if i went the easy way out and installed a smaller unit.

lets try some pics.
Furuno electronics: 12" NN3D (plotter), 7" Navnet VX1 (sounder, radar, back up plotter), and a 10" VX1 (sounder, radar, back up plotter) in upper elec. box.

these pics are a bit old as i've made some changes such as add a Garmin AP and changed the helm wheel to a smaller 13" with knob.
