Has anyone added additional rod storage to the cabin of a Sailfish?
I have a 1995 27 that I use primarily for fishing and wanted to add some rod storage. A friend of mine who is pretty handy with woodworking stopped over and we came up with what seems like a good game plan. My thought is to remove the cover for the stove and the stove itself (I will put it in storage because I don't use it). On the surface where the stove was we will mount a lower bracket which will support a vertical board with 4-5 rod cutouts on each side. That will attached to existing through deck bolts on the ceiling (will need longer hardware). For the front section I want to make it so it can be easily removed so, the bunk can be used on the rare occasion. Using the existing hardware from the hardtop mount we will mount a bracket to secure another vertical holder which will have a cross section running to underneath the walk around the cabin. The forward mounts will be secured with a combination of lock washers and wing nuts for easy removal.
Does anyone have any pictures of what you have done?
Thanks,
Fred
