Cleaning out the garage and noticed I have (2) 30" Scotty Strongarm Manual Downriggers (Swivel bases, backing plates, bolts to mount, weights, clips) pretty much ready to go - never installed or fished.
They are a bit large and heavy, best for local pick up in MA. I'm guessing $600 all-in new today.
1.) Does anyone fish with these in the northeast US? If so, for what fish.
2.) Should I install and will I use enough. I fish a lot but mostly jigging, trolling and live lining.
3.) Should I sell, ask $450?

Not to be "that guy" but I just bought a pair of lightly used 1106 electrics with those same mounts (no balls) for $500. I sold my 2 manual Scotty (they were older and showed some signs of love) for $125, no mounts, no balls.

Long story short, that's probably too high a price for hand cranks...

Fish,
Only guys I know that use hand cranks are either single men or guys with cobwebs in their wallet.
I think K2Freak was shooting ya straight.
Hope I am not being too offensive.

I doubt you would WANT to use them if you set them up. Hand cranking a 10lb weight is not a breeze, and If you have a fish on and need to get the downrigger cable up and out of the way fast, forget about it.

I just bought a new 60” strong arm Scotty downrigger (manual) with swivel mount for fantastic deal. Think it was about $280. Nice to have a spare downrigger and manual takes much less space. Added a third base plate to provide even more options without having to add electrical. $500 for a set of crankers maybe a bit high, but actually in the ballpark. $500 for a pair of lightly used 1106 riggers is about 35% of retail. Nice find.
