I am looking at purchasing a boat for the first time to do a combination of off shore fishing, backwater fishing and recreational boating and in every discussion I have with boat owners the Grady White Seafarer 226/228 seems to get mentioned. Can anyone give me an idea of what my yearly upkeep and insurance costs might be on this boat and would this be a good boat for Southwest Florida? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yearly upkeep is one of those things in my mind is subjective. If you keep her spotless and on trailer there are items like washes, waxes, deck cleaners, etc to be spent keeping the finishes nice. There is costs with using engine products like salt away to rinse the water jacket and ring free and ethanol stabilizers too. I guess what I am saying is those upkeep costs are directly related to how much you care for the boat. One could say it is is zero if you put her away wet and dirty and never maintain the motor with suggested service schedules. I spent around $800 this year for motor services and cleaning supplies. Then another $800 for trailer repairs.
