I hope its ok me posting here if I am thinking about buying a Grady White, and don't own one yet. I am looking at second hand Seafarer 226's. I mostly do light gamefishing - average day is about 100nm. Good sea handling is important, as is fuel consumption. Can any owners tell me what motors they have on their 226's, and provide some fuel consumption figures? Any other comments on the boat appreciated.
Thanks and cheers. Tom

I have an F250 on mine. When it's calm, I get 3.3 mpg at 3800 rpm and 3.0 mpg at 4200 rpm. That is 27 and 32 mph respectively. My round trips in the Gulf are typically ~100 miles and I burn a little over 30 gallons per trip.

If I'm running in a chop, I average about 2.7 mpg running just fast enough to keep smoothly on plane.

Installing an autopilot makes a big difference in fuel economy.

Even though I have twin two strokes (115s) on my Seafarer, I can't touch the power and economy of the Yamaha 250 four stroke my brother-in-law gets on his. Its' a perfect match, in my opinion.

My 226 with f250 gets about 3mpg at 4000 rpm which is 29-30 mph. Rough water decreases this slightly.
