Hi all,

I'm trying to locate the float switch for the aft bilge pump on my 2001 228. The manual says that one is installed, but I can't seem to find it and the bilge does retain a lot of water if it rains.

I want to leave my boat in the water overnight at a friend's mooring, but I want to ensure that the float switch is working before I do that. I guess I could fill the bilge with water and see if it turns on?

Any other ideas without having to pull the livebait tank out?

Thanks in advance

I think sticking a flowing hose down there and testing the float switch is a good idea. I do that on occassion just to make sure all is working. Grady recommends running freshwater over and around the fuel tank as a rinse, so you can accomplish both at the same time.

If you look through one of the seat plates, you might be able to see it, but reaching it with anything will be next to impossible.

Assuming you have a standard Rule bilge pump and seperate float switch, the switch should look like this - http://www.rule-industries.com/products ... /index.htm

Note the switch cover at the bottom of the page. If you have one of those installed, you'll never reach it to manually activate it on your 228, (unless you pull the live-well).

Also, you might have a automatic type bilge pump with a self contained float switch.
Bottom of page, (RM1500) - http://www.rule-industries.com/products ... /index.htm

You can't operate the float manually on those, (not that I know of).

Agree with wahoo, use a hose to test it.
