A friend is looking at buying a 228G, we found this boat in AL. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2006- ... -101953412
The boat doesn't have an engine and that's fine he will install a new engine.
Does anyone here know the history of this boat? Has been for sale for a long time ( maybe 2 years?) the dealer claims she is in good shape other than some sunburned trim.
If anyone knows or has seen this boat, I would like to know the history.

I will be in USA in January and I can inspect it then if still for sale but its good to know some history .

It's been for sale forever....is overpriced...and they are in no hurry to move it.

A new F250 out the door is about $18K here...not sure down there.

I think your friend can find a better deal...let us know what he is looking for and we can help you and him out.

I don't know about overpriced, that depends on the condition of the vessel, if the hull in in good shape and with some negotiation it could be well priced. Lets say you bought it for $30k a used 2006 F250 is $9- $10k, all up $40 k .
If he bought the boat he would buy a new engine, even if he bought one with engine he would sell that and get a new engine, this is what I did with mine as well.
We prefer mercury Optis, you can buy a 250 Opti here fitted with all controls, S/S prop and smartcraft gauges for $20k , F250 Yammie fitted with all that would be close to $30k .
I can buy an F250 in USA for $17k , motor only , no rigging, gauges or prop.
Let me know if you can get us a 2006 228G for $40k without bottom paint, even without trailer .

Thanks for the links, we already looked at these boats and any others that are advertised in the usual websites, like boattrader, yachtworld etc..
If you know of any that are not in these let me know.

Wouldn't consider a boat with bottom paint.
How long ago did he sell the 208? What year ? What engine? I think I may know where she is going.

Not the guy I was thinking , your boat went to Melbourne.
A guy I know just bought a 208 she is about to be shipped to Sydney. His is a 2003 with 200 HPDI as well and he had a new trailer built .
I don't know if you guys realise, the maximum trailer width here is 2.5 mtrs or 98 1/4" in your language, most your trailers are 8'6" or2.59 mtrs or 3 3/4" wider.
Some trailers you can modify without cutting axles others you can't, that's the reason most boats that come to AU have new trailers made to suit.
