Hello all - First question in awhile -

Gonna replace my Seastar I Teleflex ( canada Ltd ) hydraulic tilt steering on the GW flybridge 91.
Told by many rep. repair guys to put in straight ( no tilt ) helm but with this particular ship,
the tilt is almost NECESSARY due to getting down below the steering column, when standing straight up etc.
It lasted 30 years and after the next 30 Ill be gone...lol

Therefore going with a NEW SEASTAR tilt but...

Im pretty sure the Seastar Hh6541-3 is the direct replacement 1.7 displacement for my original seastar I tilt helm classic 1.7.
Im contemplating the Seastar Hh6543-3 2.0 displacement -

All the specs are the same BUT the 2.0 displacement part so Im assuming the wheel turns quicker with a higher displacement value ?

Any comments / input / preferences on the difference of the two greatly appreciated.
Thanks GW forum Captns / Crew....Rrrrrrghh~

The cylinder on the motor will move farther with each turn of the steering wheel. In essence you have less power to the motor cylinder for a given force applied to the wheel rim. If it was hard to turn the motor before, it will be harder with the 2.0 helm but it will take fewer turns to go lock to lock. You will change the ratio by 17.6%.

Ahhh...gotcha - so if it wasn't too hard to turn steering wheel before, it prob would be a good idea to go up a bit
or should I just stay with 1.7 ?
Ironically, the 2.0 version is cheaper by about 100 bucks // Im not sure why -

OK - so last NOTE on this thread: If it's a 1.7, stay with a 1.7 - don't go up unless you have ANY turning issues ( as far as distance )
This came in from a STEERING CO. out of Key West -

Thanks all
