I have a buyer for my Grady who lives in Canada. Does anyone have experience and knows what is required for doing that? The dos and donts? I want to insure that all the paperwork is correct for a smooth transaction. Thanks for any advice in advance!!!

spell check

Sorry but somehow boarder doesn't look quite right! Should read border! duh!!!

You only need to make sure you have payment in full before you release possession of your boat and provide the buyer with a Bill of Sale. It is up to your Canadian buyer to either arrange shipping or pick-up the boat himself. As long as he has the Bill of Sale it is up to him to import the boat to Canada.

Canadian

I am Canadian from London, Ontario and purchased my Grady in Walker Minnisota. It is quite easy to do. You are correct, it is more work for us to import the boat. The owner of the boat must fax the ownership to the U.S. customs (depending on what border crossing is to be used) 48 to 72 hours prior to. The U.S. customs will do a title search to ensure the boat leaving the country is free and clear of all liens.

I sold a boat to a resident of Panama a few years ago. I gave a bill of sale and signed over the title but made sure funds cleared, irrevococably, prior to delivery to his shipper. I had to tell the shipper of the approx. fuel in tanks.
