Is a bracket that's air tight a problem? Just about every boat compartment I know of can breath. Are these brackets built tough enough to withstand large temperature changes if sealed completely?

To get to this point, I read all the threads on how to seal a bracket. After following them closely I ended up with a well sealed bracket. What surprised me after using the boat for a weekend was when I opened the bracket drain the bracket was pressurized and a bunch of air blew out. I must have closed it up when it was cool out and the air expanded as it warmed up.

I'm a little worried that too great of a temperature change one way or another could have a detrimental effect on the bracket.

I mean this in a nice way, but... you're overthinking this one. Pressure is a part of life. The bracket is just fine as designed - afterall, there are more than a couple brackets out there on boats with no issues. ;)
