Hello all,
I just sold my old 87' Mako 17 and I am starting to look for a Seafarer. I have a few questions.
1- When did the Hull (seav2) and cabin windows change 1999?
2-How about the bracket for the motor? 226 vs 228 did they make them the same year or 228 later?
3-How many hours on an old motor is too many? 500, 1000? If they were maintained correctly?
Thanks, looking forward to participating here.

John,

The SeaV-2 hull came to the 22' boats (Fisherman, Tournament and Seafarer) in '92. The 226 and 228 were both built up until a couple of years ago. Now the only hull available is the 228.

If they are maintained correctly, 1000 hours is nothing. My 225 Tournament is closing in on 1200 hours...compression is good....lower unit is good....I maintain it meticulously and it starts and runs perfectly every time.

If you are going F225, and it's an early 2000s motor, make sure it doesn't have the exhaust corrosion issue. If you catch it early it's repairable. If you wait to long you will end up needing a new powerhead or worse.
