Storage idea

Looking to make this thing a storage compartment for small knives and clippers any ideas

Remove it, measure the cut out, see if there is any wiggle room to enlarge the cut out, and start shopping the internet. Boatoutfitters.com, Ebay, etc

Joe, do YOU think it's a good idea? It doesn't really matter what we think. If you do, go for it.

Not sure where this is on the boat. Consider a usb charging port in the back, looks like a nice spot for a phone or handheld radio

I like the idea assuming you can find a plug fit (or close) reasonably priced alternative. Always nice to customize space on these boats to your use case as there isn't much extra room.

I almost converted that to a storage on my 228 but at the end decided to keep the fresh water because I do use it when fishing. I was going to convert it into to 2 tackle tray holders. I ended up doing this for storage. I have had it for few months now and I’m so glad I did it.
