I winterized and shrink-wrapped the boat on our lift in mid-December and have left it on shore power charge all winter. My previous boating experience years ago was to put our Sea Ray on the hard in December and being one of the last boats in, was one of the first out at April 1. As previously mentioned on here, this is our first boat in over a decade and it's new to me to keep it on the lift over the winter. I'm thinking I'd like to get the boat ready to use by early April again. It might not be the end of winter weather but we're likely to see some pretty good boating days when it's not blowing hard. The only thing really giving me any pause is that our dock is on a cove with a lot of trees around and we get a huge pollen drop here in the spring. I'll be keeping a full cover over it when not in use which should keep most of that out but it seems like an extra detailing session or two is worth it to be able to get some use out of it this spring.
When do you guys on the Chesapeake unwrap your boats and what kind of things should I be paying attention to as I start to use the boat after the winter lay off?
