Russ, can totally relate. Came to the Island 4o years ago....oh ya I need a boat !!!! Just had enough money to buy an old Sears tri hull. Needed a buddy with a vehicle to go fishing. Worked hard, got a loan, bought a bit of a wreck but it gave me my independence to go fishing with my dog "all on my own" with many ridiculous early morning and late hours fishing. Just loved to be out there......I guess not much has changed except the boat and the vehicle.

I would go with Deemaxx over the Kodiak. If you look at where the Deemaxx guys came from you'll understand. They have a great warranty and they are easy to deal with. Owens uses their SS components

Defiantly get those brakes fixed.
I swear tho I’ve seen guys pull trailers in and out of the marina with no plates, dry rotted tires, brake lines straight up cut and disassembled. No taillights no fenders I’ve seen it all!

Get the brakes fixed, Safety First!
