I'm installing a Airmar B75H thru hull
What sealant are you guys using? I used 4200 on my last boat but now I'm hearing not to use it incase it has to ever be removed? One recommendation was Life seal?

4200 should be fine, it is more removable than 5200.

I use Boatlife Lifeseal for through-hull fittings. It has adhesive properties but is easily removed.

You really don't need to use an adhesive for transducers since they are held tightly in place by a big ring nut. All you need is a gasket. Back in the day, everybody used regular silicon sealer and it held up just fine.

Lifeseal is what I was told to use. Now it's confirmed, I just ordered a tube. On a separate note I was surprised how thin the hull is on my 228. Seems like my last hull I cored out was about 3xs as thick?

After installing a seacock recently, I hear ya. But when is the last time you pondered how thin an airplane skin is? And can travel 550 mph moderate turbulence with 300 plus passengers and cargo and no biggie.

It's all about the load engineering.

So I got it in but I when I hold the the transducer with the arrow pointed at the keel and turn the nut with a large pair of channel locks it seems like it can't get any tighter but when I don't hold the transducer and try and turn the nut the whole thing will turn I think that is normal? Any opinions?

Yes it looks really good and it's tight I just didn't think I would be able too move it, it's very tight I'll post pictures it still needs a little clean up

I had this same issue adding my new pick up and 1 1/2 inch drain.

The hull slightly curves, and I believe that's the issue as well as the finish in the bilge is uneven here and there. All the more reason to apply a sealant that keeps out the water, and has some grip to it. As long as the Lifeseal was oozing out of the nut and transducer bevel, you will be good to go.

Looks good to me as well. I guess the smooth gelcoat and the way you prepped the interior side, left very little friction/traction for the fitting to adhere to when you doing the dry fitting. Which sealant did you decide to use?

Well I finally got to test the transducer for leaks yesterday. I took it to a lake and left it on the trailer at the ramp for 35 minutes. I was running my motor to test the new impeller the entire time. No leaks from the transducer.
