I did this job in the past on my GW using the stock aluminum. I realized at the time I may end up having to do it again and used 3m 4200. This time, I'm looking to use vinyl or 316 stainless. I called a Grady dealer and they said they sell the vinyl to do it by the foot. I think he said it was like 20 something a foot and I nearly threw up. Not that I don't pay my fair share for OEM stuff but I doubt this is OEM and question if I should just use a high quality grade of 316SS for the same price?
My only reservations are:
1. I do not want to drill / use any fasters. I am nearly certain that the 4200 or 5200 will keep it in place? Thoughts?
2. If I go stainless, I would like to move from 1.25" to 1.5" and worry that there is a very small gap needed between the motor and the hull? SS material I'm looking to use is .125 and thicker than the current aluminum.
Anyone go vinyl or SS and have thoughts to share on the matter?
