Transom cap (bang plate) replacement

There was a hairline crack in the corner that I tapered out and glassed. I had also ground out the epoxy between the liner and hull so I filled those gaps with 5200. Then I made a new cap out of 2x2” x 1/8” aluminum angle. Cut the mitered corners on my chop saw with an old blade. Made a spacer for the motor out of 1/8” aluminum plate so there’s no thickness difference when mounted. Sealed it all with copious amounts of 4200.

Got it all finished. Starboard 1/4” is perfect amount to keep motor from crushing the new thicker vinyl plate. I know I gotta put the second locking nuts on the mounting bolts.

Yeah I cleaned all the salt crystals out and cleaned it with acetone. Then did west system to fill deeper areas. Then after that dried did 5200 twice. Went with 5200 because it has some flex and was worried about fiberglass getting cracks in it. Especially when tightening the motor back on. The cap now is strictly for appearance cuz the 5200 has it sealed underneath.
