Transom damage 272???

Looking at buying a used 99 GW272, been sitting in brackish water nearly entire life, however under cover. Concerned about blisters and transom damage. Please let me know based on the pictures I am showing. I have not seen boat in person.
Thanks for any insight as I am new to GW.

looks like a 20yo boat. If your serious get it professionally surveyed, it is worth spending the money and can save you some major money and heartache after you purchase the boat and are stuck with it.

It's difficult to distinguish cosmetic issues from real issues via photos . . . you really should get a survey performed. I can tell you that its not uncommon for the transom cap to show degradation along the bottom edge, which is typically just cosmetic. Looks like there is something going on to the left of the engine in the first picture and between the engines in the second picture. . . almost as if the cap has lifted up?

Doesn't seem like a lot going on there. Just some general maintenance going by the pics.

- Cleanup the trim pump on the motor.
- Replace the hose from the seacock and lube the seacock.
- Cover your terminals with the boots on the batteries.
- Check your thruhull fittings. If they are sun burnt replace them.

Looks very clean to me but as others have said, you need a hull survey where they tap on it to have actual knowledge of the condition.

If you won't regret it if the boat is a piece of crap and the money you paid is not an issue, fine.
Otherwise, get a survey!
Seriously, the pictures you posted are not the areas where you might get blindsided.

Thanks all, I may pass on this boat. It has headliner issues and I am not sure of the hours on the motors, per salesman, he says no ability to check hours.. After the debacle of our first power boat that we spent more time fixing than enjoying, my wife is telling me to spend more money.

If you don’t feel good about it don’t buy it, keep looking just remember an old Boat of any make will need some love . Keep looking your boat will show up.

Hull survey , sea trial and full motor inspection would be the required steps. IMO
