Just sold my 1988 22' seafarer and I installed a Lowrance GPS/Depthfinder for the new owner. Bay tested the boat this morning and the transducer is shooting up water onto the engine cowling. The new owner didn't really mind, but I told him I would take care of it and didn't want to sell him the boat like that.
I know the best thing to do is to run an Airmar throughull transducer instead, but I'd like to see if I can get this to work. I mounted it about 8-10" to the right of the "grady drive" bracket right near the chine on the transom. Hangs down 1/16"-1/8" below the hull like its supposed to and paralell to the water line and it works perfect. I've done dozens of these, but none that I can recall on a transom with an engine bracket.
I tried angling the transducer further down, but it really didn't change the spray much when running the boat. Where is the best location for this? I have plenty of extra cable to maybe move the transducer lower and closer to the bracket.
Thanks
Jason
