From what I have read, Transom rot is most common on the open transom design. But Several Closed transom boats have rot as well, mostly around the scuppers and bracket bolts.
Also any boat that has unsealed holes will from transponders etc has a doomed transom..
I am not an expert, but wanted to share what I have read.
