Just splashed the boat today. The yard had worked on the steering cylinders during the off season. On the run to my slip, noticed that both engines tilt/trim properly, however, the starboard indicator on the guage does not move (stays at full down position.) The port indicator works well. It's a Marlin with 225's. Any ideas before bring it back to the yard. The cost of gas to the yard runs a bit. Also the speedometer reading is off. Usually I put the engines in reverse and that clears it, but not today.

Thanks,

I would check the indicator assembly on the motor. There is a little spring loaded arm that sticks sometimes due to salt exposure. Spray it with some CRC and work it back and forth until it frees up. The other thing that can happen is the plastic tab it makes contact with sometimes will break. If that's the case just buy a new one for a few bucks and replace it yourself. On my 150 it's held in place by one socket-head screw.

Sorry, can't help with the speedo

Thanks Joe -- Checked the boat this AM, found the lever and moved it up and down a few times. Think it did the trick. Will spray both engines to make sure both indicators are freed up.

Take care and thanks -- now on to the speedo problem, but that has been intermittent all last season.
