Was out in 16mph wind gusts 25 to 30 .
well anchored and set.
when leaving winch did not cut it. Had to motor it loose and when it popped free all ok EXCEPT anchor was now bent.
See picture , it is bent towards me taking the pic.

Take it to a metal fab shop and they can straighten it with a press. If you are anchoring in a known area of hang-ups, rig a crown pendant and buoy to prevent that.

Thanks,
both sound like good points.
I do have the thingy to drop down around the chain to pull it out
.The stupid thing this time was that it was not that deep, some 8 ft under engines. It was blowing so I could not see bottom and I was alone on boat w limited options for maneuvering..

We fish a lot of man made reefs and it's not uncommon to get hung up. We usually fish in 60 to 160 feet of water so no chance to free dive to get it free. I rig my anchor with a break-away setup so when the boat pulls too hard it will break the zip tie and then the chain is pulling on the crown of the anchor and it usually will come free. This is a possibility I just wonder how it behaves retrieving it through the front when I now have a swivel that orients it almost always correctly.
How much Force do the zip ties stand, can't be that much.
I will call UMT in Ft Lauderdale tomorrow to find out what they can do. I'm "just" 60 miles from there.
