Can GW 306 canyon davit accommodate danforth anchor? If so what is the largest size danforth I could use.
If not what is the largest size plow anchor that I can use. Is it possible to purchase 300 ft of 1/2 inch line with 20-30 ft of chain already attached or is that a custom make. Thanks Steve

Most marine supply shops (West, Defender, Jamestown, etc.) sell pre-made anchor rode. 25' - 30' of chain with 250'+ of line are readily available.

As far as what anchor will fit your bow pulpit (not a davit, btw), I can't help you there. But generally, danforth anchors don't sit very nicely in pulpit rollers, since their shank is straight. An anchor with a curved shank like Delta, Rocna, Mantus, Spade, and similar work great on most pulpits/rollers. I suggest you call Grady and see if they will tell you what style of anchor they design the pulpit for and then once you choose the anchor make/style make sure you size it correctly. All anchor makers have sizing charts by length and/or weight of vessel -- look it up before ordering.

Good luck.

Terrific!! Thanks for the response!! Great help

I have a 306 Canyon (Bimini). I use a 25# Mantus anchor. Fits well in the bow roller and locker. I have a Lewmar v700 Vertical windlass with Lewmar 8-plait anchor rope (see below).

The only complaint is that the Mantus anchor probably works too good.

Hope this helps.

secosouthrigging has some great deals on ebay for rode and chain. They are the OEM provider for a lot of boats. I highly recommend 8-plait rode by the way!

I run a 17# Mantus M1 with the 1/2" 8 plait rope an 15' 1/4" chain through a Lewmar Profish windlass on my 228.

On a 306? I would think you would need at least the 17# if not bigger. Profish works great, been happy with my choice.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I really appreciate it. I let you know what GW says and what I ultimately wind up with

Profish on my 228 as well, no problems.
