Sorry about that. Didn't mean to be misleading.

We bought the boat new with a soft (Vista) top. Had a custom hardtop made by S&S Marine here in Norfolk. It is the same length as the GW top, but the frame is all the way aft. The electronics box is higher, but narrower. So, I have room for four rods up to 6'6" on each side, and two shorter rods either side of the middle. Also have a custom grabrail fore-and-aft under the top. All rods in Lee holders.

Of course, I don't have that nice, big, convenient storage bag under the GW hardtop.

Since the rear frame is at the back of the top, our aft curtain is vertical, not angled, and you can stand behind the helm seat or the companion seat and be inside the curtain.

Sounds nice Brian. Your boat looks great with all of the rod holders. I am always looking for ideas and neverseem to have enough room for rod/reels. We are rock fishing with 12 to 16 lines these days!

This is a buddies Sailfish working hard, yep all lines out..

UhOh, I have and Islander as well. I won't get to check things out untill Wednesday. Brian, what part of the rack seemed to large? If the mounting surface is too long, I can cut it down or do they protrude out into the cabin too far?

The forward mount could probably be fitted to the cabin side.

The aft mount was too long (tall) to even fit in place vertically. I would have to modify it drastically, and even then not sure. Would start with a heavy cardboard pattern and go from there....
Hope it works out for you.

That's ridiculous. I'm pretty sure I know who that is and I also know his standards for releasing big fish...which I absolutely applaud. But c'mon, running those dang planar boards is like hogging all the water. I know people will say it's a big Bay out there, but we all know the fish congregate in specific locations. So, that's where the boats congregate. When you get 8 or 10 boats running panars 150' out to each side there's no room for anyone else. The hassle associated with dodging these guys makes me not even want to go out and mess with it....

IMHO, DNR outta set a width limit to keep this kind of stuff in check...

T-bird, I think the clamps in that bow storage compartment might be where you could store the dinette pedestal, if you choose to not have the table up in place. Maybe someone else has another idea.

all the old pics on this thread seem to be removed and unavailable.
thinking about adding cabin rod-racks to my 282, but would love to see these in action.

can some members post pics of you cabin rod-racks?

capt bill, do you still have a line on these rod-racks?
