Upholstered armrests

My armrests were bad; even the covers that Grady sent wound up ugly. Stained and sticky. I didn't try the bleach method others have used and it might have worked -for a while.
I had a new stern bolster made at a highly recommended shop - Art's Marine in Brockton MA and asked them about covering the armrests. They said no problem and even had the Grady matching flat vinyl fabric. The pictures tell the story - they came out great!
If others are interested, you can send your armrests to them and they'll send them back after they work their magic. The armrest has to be removed from the aluminum support - they drilled out the pin that holds the plastic frame to the support.
Can't wait until the snow melts so I can get into the boat and put these back on!

$100 cash and that included removing the frame from the aluminum. Seems like a fair price for the great work

Max366- I’m in a similar situation with my armrests on a 03 228. Question for you. When you took them off, was there a possibility of just leaving them off or does the seat need the depth of the bar to attach to the post? I was thinking about just removing them both which would add a little more clearance between the seats, but I can’t tell. Otherwise, I may be making a trip to Brockton. Let me know.

Yes, I took them off my 228.

Max366- I’m in a similar situation with my armrests on a 03 228. Question for you. When you took them off, was there a possibility of just leaving them off or does the seat need the depth of the bar to attach to the post? I was thinking about just removing them both which would add a little more clearance between the seats, but I can’t tell. Otherwise, I may be making a trip to Brockton. Let me know.

Sorry for the delayed response- I've been away.
Looks like others answered you but from what I recall, it's straightforward to remove the whole armrest bracket - it's bolted on so the length of the bolts may need to be shortened.

I have a 19 and removed my armrest also.
Added a spacer the thickness of the armrest at the bolt holes and added two new snaps to hold the cushion.
Lot easier to get in and out now and have more room in the aisle to walk thru.
