Anyone know if there is a way to use a Garmin 3010C to interface to a yamaha F225 engine for Tach, trim, engine hours and fuel management? How about interfacing fuel level senders to the Garmin? If not the Garmin 3010C, does anyone have experience with any "data dispaly system" other than the Yamaha guages for displaying tach, trim, fuel usage and fuel level?

My boat got struck by lightning and the fuel management, speed, and two tachometers are all dead. Yamaha replacement guages seem expensive at about $400 each (so $1600 for the 4 of them). Seems like there should be some solutions out there for less than $1600.

I don't think the 3 sreies Garmin is nema 2K so pretty much forget about getting fuel fow, trim, engine data... If you step up to the 4 or 5 series Garmin, you get the nema 2K. Lowrance has a nema 2K module that will display data, up to 4? chanels but I'm not sure how it will read engine data.

Check with Just-in-time or SIM for the Yamaha peices.

Just got off the phone with Garmin Tech support and they concur - the 3010C is not NMEA2000 so can't display engine or fuel data.

I'm using the 4210 with F250's for engine data and fuel management. Really works well. If you can swing the upgrade it is a great unit with lots of features.

When Iinstalled the 4210 I relocated the 3006C and replaced my radar with the Garmin radar. The units can network so its not a total throwaway. I use the 3006C primarly to interface the old fish finder to the network but it is a fully usable network display.

You also need to check if your 2004 F225s have the CL output that is used for NMEA2k source to compatible displays.

We have 2006 F150s and I set up NMEA2K engine interfaces to the Lowrance LCX-112C and the LMF-400 display head.

I self insure so in a manner of speaking yes, my insurance is covering the damage. Filing a claim and getting paid was instantaneous with no disputes about what is covered and for how much ;)
