You're the best! Thank you.Have always has luck with Standard Horizon. I believe new needs to have internal or external GPS capability for DSC. I’d go with a model with internal GPS to simplify installation. Something like this:

I'll check it out- great advice about fog. Thank you!ICOM M506 with AIS Its a little over your budget. But so worth the money. With AIS connected to your head unit. You can track commercial boats. The fog gets thick out here. Just a little bit more insurance and safety.
Standard Horizon with internal GPS and AIS has been well worth it for me.
I was not able to get the AIS to talk with my brand new Garmin plotter however. So I had a reputable, local marine electronics shop come out and do it. They sent two different techs to try and no connection was made. They just concluded that sometimes you can't get a Standard Horizon to talk with a Garmin.
At least the radio is placed where I can see the targets on it's little screen pretty easily.
