I have a couple of questions,Is there any difference in a Marine Voltage Gauge between a Outboard & Inboard ? second question if I have twin Outboards should I have two Voltage Gauges ? Thanks Ken

First an amp is an amp. And to answer your next, check to see which battery your amp gauges are hooked to. The way my boat is wired is, each motor charges, or is hooked to its own battery, but the gauge only reads the starboard battery, because it connected to that one. The house battery is also in parallel to that battery so it works off both of them, but batteries drain from the load so they don’t drain equally. So it would be nice to have a gauge on each battery, which would be the only way to truly know what your batteries are doing. I’m not sure how to do that, one gauge per or a multiply type.

Thanks for the reply I am going to run 3 or 4 batteries ,one for each engine & the third & fourth for the house & electronics,so I think I will use two Voltage gauges to get a true reading for each engine,Thanks Ken

Learn from my mistakes, I had 4 batteries, one for each motor and 2 house battery. But I had 2 different size batteries so to make a long story short, the one small battery hooked up with the two bigger batteries cooked. So what I ended up doing was I had 2 larger batteries on the starboard motor with the house parallel and a single smaller battery on the port motor, my gauge are running off the starboard set, and I carrier a volt meter, to check the batteries from time to time. An other thing I started doing was all way have the batteries switches on there own motors and not both when starting. And i installed a small solor charger that will run the vhf with out any battary when the sun is out,it allso charges the house battary when all switches are off during sunny days. hope this helps you

You can also have a single meter with a switch, press the swith one side gives you volt on that side battery, press it on the other side, will give you the other side.(Something like twin fuel tanks with one gauge)

Thanks Guys for the Info I will look into the Blue Seas Gauge that sounds good 4 Batteries with one gauge saves me from drilling a hole for another gauge,Ken
